About the Speaker:

Rick Olson is a retired professional with a variety of educational and life experiences. He has worked as an economist, an attorney, a certified financial planner, an agricultural loan officer, an agricultural cooperative president, a State Representative in Michigan and a public school business manager. He obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and completed the coursework in two Ph .D. programs (Agricultural Economics and Education Administration). As an active Rotarian since early 2017, he has flown to the Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Uganda three times since February 2020 to guide a non-profit organization he founded to assist the refugees at Best Future School and led the effort on two Rotary International Global Grants for Nakivale.

About the Speaker:

Carrie Buckman currently serves as the Department of Water Resources’ (DWR) Environmental Program Manager for Delta Conveyance. In this role, she oversees all environmental planning and permitting activities related to the Department’s pursuit of modernized Delta conveyance.  Prior to joining DWR, Carrie spent 21 years in the private sector working on feasibility studies and environmental compliance for large water and restoration projects in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and throughout California. Carrie’s extensive experience includes several large- scale planning efforts, specifically Yolo Bypass fisheries restoration, the San Joaquin River Restoration Program and Long-Term Water Transfers.

James Kennedy is the Founder, President, and CEO of Beach Cities Solar Consulting LLC, with Global Corporate Headquarters based in Rincon, Puerto Rico and remote offices in cities throughout the country! Beach Cities Solar Consulting LLC is an education based solar solutions consulting firm that works with buy side homeowners, business owners, corporations, and other institutions to provide them with turnkey energy solutions to go green, save money, and become energy resilient. James has consulted on hundreds of residential solar installations across the country and dozens of commercial and corporate solar installations for clients including Skechers and Remax. He also consults with other solar companies and consultants to help them scale their businesses in the rapidly changing renewable energy marketplace. James cares deeply about protecting the environment for future generations and getting America off fossil fuels for good. James recently published Solar Energy Secrets For Homeowners. Mike Giusto is a retired criminalist who has worked for the CA Dept. of Justice Bureau of Forensic Services for almost 40 years. Some areas of expertise are as follows:

  • drug chemist
  • forensic alcohol supervisor
  • clandestine drug lab chemist
  • firearm and toolmark examiner

Mike has qualified over 500 times as an expert witness in numerous courts throughout central and northern California.

Rotary Club of Walnut Grove Reinstates In-Person Meetings under CDC Guidelines:

Sacramento County has returned to in-person meetings.
With the health of our members foremost, the Board has adopted the recommendation.  Our Meeting are now Hybrid - In Person and on Zoom!
 
The Board continues to monitor the Covid tiers and complies with the CDC guidelines.  Thank you all for your service.
 
Normally, we meet Mondays at 12:30 PM,
     with Fellowship and Lunch available at High Noon.
