Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

The Walnut Grove Rotary Club has sponsored more than 55 students over the years to attend RYLA.  It is a very rewarding program for our youth of today who are becoming our leaders of tomorrow.  Club member, Thom Wiseman is the RYLA Committee Chair
 
Since 2013 club member, Dave Stirling, has been chairing this committee in the selection of scholarships recipients for our Youth Scholarship Program.  Dave has devoted hours of his time year after year reading each and every applicants essay, interviewing, and being a grand mentor for our students.

Our District 5180 has two scholarship opportunities.  The Global Grant Scholarship and Rotary Peace Fellowship.  Please contact our Rotary Club of Walnut Grove for more information.

2022 Youth Scholarship Applications Closed for 2022!
Here are some little known facts about the Program:
  • Many of these scholarships are long existing family Memorial Scholarships from multiple families in Walnut Grove.  The Rotary Club of Walnut Grove is honored to present these Memorial Scholarships with pride and dignity in the name of a lost family member.  Each year Dave Stirling and the committee spend countless hours determining if applicants meet the criteria for one of the scholarships.  No detail go unturned.

2021 Program and Recipients
Rob Globus, President and Dave Stirling, Committee Chair of the Rotary Club of Walnut Grove presented our club Scholarships to Delta High School students in multiple categories.  To achieve a RCWG scholarship, a student completes an application and interviews with their school counselors and the RCWG Scholarship committee, chaired by Dave Stirling.  Some of these achieving students are the first in their families to attend college or trade schools.
Proudly, all Memorial Scholarships have been funded in memory of a beloved family member or business associate, and most graduated from Delta High School in years passed.

2020 Program and Recipients
This 2020 year of the covid-19 pandemic, found Dave working extra hard to make sure the scholarship applications arrived.  In the end, He determined  9 applicants are deserving and worthy of receiving one of our scholarships.

3rd Grade
Dictionary Give Away!

Each year our Rotary Club of Walnut Grove President, President-Elect, Committee Chair and any members wishing to participate delivers dictionaries to the 3rd grade class at two community elementary schools, Walnut Grove Elementary and Bates Elementary.  It is their very own personal dictionary.

A Chromebook Project!
With your help, we can provide better tools at our two local elementary school which allows our students better time learning.  Your support by giving to the Walnut Grove Rotary Foundation means our local community children benefit.  Your financial help makes all this happen, and more.  Our goal, a Chromebook for each student, is tangible with all of us pulling together.
 
A small gift from you of $270 provides a much needed Chromebook.  We invite you to participate any amount you can.  It all adds up and collectively we can accomplish this Presidential Project for our students.  Because giving is supporting.

Give Where Your Passion Takes You! 

For over 72 years, our Rotary Club of Walnut Grove in California has provided financial help in a wide range of charitable causes ranging from Delta High Student Scholarships,  Chromebooks for our Elementary students, to installing a HVAC system for the community to have a cool place to gather on our blistering hot days.  Our club has donated over $500,000 since the inception of our Youth Scholarship Program.  Every year, we sponsor 2-4 students to attend RYLA or provide an Automated External Defibrillator, AED equipment, for those first responders who protect our community.  Many in our community have received donation gifts to help make their life better.  And in the spirit of hope and faith, at Christmas, Santa misses no home.
