Rio Vista CARE is a regionally based nonprofit counseling and family resourse center in Rio Vista California.  Our clients are children, families, and
individuals who live in the small Delta towns of Rio Vista, Isleton, Walnut Grove, Birds Landing, Collinsville and surrounding rural areas.  CARE has served this vast community of 10,000 people for over 30 years and is the Delta's only low-cost professional counseling and family resource enter.  Over the years Rio Vista CARE has served thousands of local children and families.

About the Speaker:

Hello, I’m Johanna Brown. I am on the board of directors for Rio Vista CARE, a grass roots mental health clinic and resource center that was started in the small Delta community... to serve the Delta small delta communities up and down the Sacramento River. I have volunteered for C.A.R.E. for about a decade now. My professional background has been in family counseling and mental health. I’ve worked with families from a range of positions: as a Child Welfare Specialist officer for the state of Alaska, a 1:1 behavior counselor for youth and families in Alaska, Solano, and the Bay Area, and most recently, I was the director of Seneca’s Kinship Navigator program helping provide 1:1 case management and teaching educational courses for family members acting like foster parents-taking on a relative’s child & raising them.

I am passionate about empowering families and helping them find the healthy mix in life they need to thrive. Although this gives some background on my work history and ties to Rio Vista C.A.R.E.  I am currently empowering and most passionate about just one family these days-our own, staying home with my amazing force of a three year old daughter Hope and my joyful smirking one year old Lee. They keep me thinking about our community’s future and how together we can make it a strong beautiful place to live.
