About the Speaker:

KATIE WILEY:

"Hello, everyone... Katie of K. Wiley Marketing & Design here! I'm an experienced Social Media Marketer, Digital Strategist, Web and Print Designer who has been serving the locally owned businesses of the California Delta for over ten years. If you're on Facebook, you might have seen me helping the restaurants and other venues I work with to spread the word about their specials and accommodations in groups like Delta News and The Hub. With COVID-19 presenting us with new hurdles daily, I have found that social media-- especially local groups like these-- have become vast resources for business owners, residents, and visitors alike.

I am absolutely honored to be included in this meeting alongside two of my greatest inspirations. After years of admiring their gorgeous Delta photos on social media, I finally had the courage to pick up a DSLR camera, thanks to the extraordinary talents of Don Wisdom and Demi Stewart. I look forward to discussing how social media has had a positive impact on the California Delta with you soon!"

About the Speaker:

Don Wisdom:

Hi, My name is Don Wisdom. I am the Creator of Delta News, a Facebook group dedicated to promoting small business in the Delta.  I grew up as a child in the Delta attending Ryer Island Elementay, Rio Vista High School, Courtland High school and Delta High.  I believe Delta News and its "staff writers " are and can be instrumental in keeping small Delta businesses alive especially in our current predicament. I have such great memories from my childhood and working in the Delta as do most people with similar backgrounds. So combining the memories and photos that people can share with each other seems to be an excellent way to grow a group.

So glad you included me in this meeting with two others like Demi and Katie who have similar visions and gifts that make this all work. Thank you.

About the Speaker:

Demi Stewart:

Hello. My name is Demi Stewart. I’ve lived in the beautiful Delta for the majority of my life and cannot imagine living anywhere else.  Spending much of that time in the agricultural field, my attention was primarily on bookkeeping, soils and crops. When I became a Bridge Operator, my perspective changed. The long hours spent over our gorgeous waterways showed me a different view of the rivers, the habitat and the people that make the Delta so unique and valuable. I was introduced to the Delta News, developed by my friend Don Wisdom and was soon sharing pictures from some unique vantage points.  Through the support and love and encouragement of its members, family, and friends, I now have my own photography business and hope to continue to share the beauty that I am blessed to see on a regular basis. My hope is that the more we share the Delta Love, the better we can protect it, promote it, and maintain its beauty, the people and businesses who live, love, and play here.
