Interviews Delta High School Seniors for Education Scholarships
For many years in late Spring, Walnut Grove Rotary’s Scholarship Committee has gathered at Delta High School to interview senior students for college or trade school scholarships. Prior to the interviews seniors must submit an application and write an essay describing their scholastic achievement, financial need, character, personal desire to better themselves, and any other information they feel makes them a worthy candidate to receive a WG Rotary scholarship. Over the years Walnut Grove Rotary has awarded a great many scholarships to public or private colleges/universities, community colleges, and trade schools, totaling many thousands
of dollars. Some of these achieving students are the first in their families to attend college or trade schools.
Laura and Tom Uslan, Co-Presidents of the Rotary Club of Walnut Grove will be presenting our club Scholarships to Delta High School students in multiple categories.
Join in and see these scholarships presented to the recipients in person on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
To achieve a RCWG scholarship, a student completes an application, interviews with their school counselors, and prepares their personal essay for presentation in front of the RCWG Scholarship committee.
Together, Kim Tranum, Thom Wiseman, and Laura spent nearly a full day at the high school conducting the interviews.
Proudly, all Memorial Scholarships have been funded in memory of a beloved family member or business associate, and most graduated from Delta High School in years passed. Those ten plus twelve additional scholarships were awarded for a total of 22.
This is the greatest number of scholarships our club has awarded in one year. It is made possible because of the amazing work our club does at the Annual Rotary Club of Walnut Grove Scholarship and Community Fundraiser Auction and Dinner each February. Combined with the other events sponsored throughout the year, this moment is successful because of your Service Above Self. Thank you! You Made a Change!

The Dennis W. Leary Memorial Scholarship of $1,500 - given in the name of the Club’s 1948 founding president in honor of the Class Valedictorian.
