Speaker: Morgen Snyder of Restore the Delta Hosted by Emily Pappalardo Topic: TBD Zoom Link Information: For Zoom Guests: Please contact the Club IT committee to receive your invitation that includes the access code to our Monday Zoom meeting. About the Speaker: From UC Davis, Graduate Program of Environmental Policy and Management Morgen is a second year in the UC Davis Environmental Policy and Management Graduate Program, with plans to graduate in June 2025. Graduating from Illinois State University in 2017 with dual degrees in Political Science and Legal Studies, Morgen spent six years working in International Trade and Compliance Law. Morgen is now pursuing dual specializations in Water and Marine Resource Management, where she hopes to apply her knowledge of the law, experience in project management, and research and analysis to policy and advocacy in this next phase of her career. January 28, 2026 - Press Release from Maven's Notebook. The proposed update to the Bay-Delta plan, which is nearly 30 years overdue, exacerbates inequities in the system through the inclusion of the Voluntary Agreements, and further ostracizes Delta Tribes, environmental justice communities, Delta farms, and fishing groups. While expeditiously moving forward with a bad update, the Water Board has failed to address the Title VI complaint filed in 2022 by the Delta Tribal Environment Coalition (“DTEC”), which calls upon the Board to rectify generations of harm caused by these inequities. The proposed update prioritizes water districts and wealthy agricultural interests over the Board’s obligations to uphold the Public Trust Doctrine and protect water quality for the Tribes and communities that depend upon Delta waterways. We need an update to the existing plan, but we need an update that prioritizes strong regulatory oversight and protective measures for Bay-Delta communities, tribes, and ecosystems. |
