Education and Families in Kiwimbie

Message:

Through a variety of educational options, Kiwimbi provides key tools for children and their families in underserved communities to build a better future for themselves. Financial and volunteer support from the US enable us to change lives, one child at a time!

About the Speakers:

Lynne has always believed in the impact that individual initiative can have in making the world a better place, one step at a time. As the daughter of educators she also has profound faith in the value of books to bring joy and to help people visualize change and realize their dreams. She and her husband John focused on giving the gift of a good education to their own children and, after years of working in insurance and law, Lynne committed to putting her skills to work for others who may have fewer educational resources or options. She earned her B.A. at Juniata College, her J.D. from Rutgers University, Newark, and worked for 15 years in the life and health insurance industry, focusing on compliance, contracts and other communications with regulators and policyholders.

Lynne’s been fortunate enough to have traveled to various parts of the world in her life and, importantly, to have visited a small part of the great continent of Africa on a project with Olubayi Olubayi. It was discussions with him and others that led to the establishment of Kiwimbi. Kiwimbi’s focus on educational opportunity, both academic and vocational, keeps Lynne energized. Her trips to Kenya to work with Kiwimbi’s Kenyan leaders and to observe first hand the differences we are making on the ground there never cease to inspire her.

Lisa Connell brings her ongoing commitment to education with her to Kiwimbi, having spent many years in the classroom as both a third grade and a preschool teacher. In her role as Development and Marketing Coordinator, she is eager to direct her energy and enthusiasm for helping others towards the mission of Kiwimbi in expanding access to education in areas of the world where it is generally less available. Lisa believes Kiwimbi is an organization that can really change people’s lives and she is thrilled to be a part of it.
