Topic: Rotary, Polio Plus and the Ride to End Polio 2022 About the Speaker: Information from the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks. Joe is a member of Rotary Club of Fair Oaks and our District 5180 Rotary Foundation Chair. If you recall, in November 2022, Joe participated in the Ride to End Polio bike ride on November 19, 2022 in Tucson Arizona. Over 7,000 fellow cyclists were riding for various charities. Despite coming down with Covid shortly before the ride on November 9, Joe recovered enough to finish the Ride to End Polio at the 39th El Tour De Tucson. He was accompanied by two other District 5180 Rotarians, Steve Brozosky and John Meisner Proudly, Joe completed the Half Century Metric (32 miles) and raised $42,389. WOWOWOWOW.

During September thru November, the largest grown pumpkin is harvested and placed in the community bank - Farmers and Merchants Bank. While you can enter for free, Donations are grately appreciated. Big Break offers much to many according to an article in Lodi News. It is a haven for kayakers, hikers, birdwatchers, fishermen. Topic: Grief After a Suicide About the Speaker: Mary still remembers the unbearable pain she experienced after her 18-year-old son, Steven, died by suicide near the family's Sacramento home in 1977. "I spent a ood three years crying," recall Koenig. "It was such a horrible, deep sadness. If I got in my car by myself, I'd sob the whole time. In my head I knew what happened, but it took years for my heart to accept it." Koenig, a mother of seven, realized she wanted to help others coping with the same loss - but that she'd have to create her own group to do it. "There was such a need for people to come together and share support," says Koenig, who launched Friends for Survival in 1983 along with eight others affected by the suicide death of loved ones. "When someone first reaches out," adds Koenig, "even if they can't verbalize it, what they're asking is, 'Tell me how I'm going to get through this?'" The group's work is needed more than ever, amid increased isolation and despression (nearly 45,000 Americans took their own lives in 2020). "I had no idea how large the problem was," says Koenig. "I just knew I lost my son and wanted to help others."

Prior to the interviews seniors must submit an application and write an essay describing his/her scholastic achievement, financial need, character, personal desire to better themselves, and any other information they feel makes them a worthy candidate to receive a WG Rotary scholarship. Over the years Walnut Grove Rotary has awarded a great many scholarships to public or private colleges/universities and community colleges, totaling many thousands of dollars to many students who might not otherwise have the means.

Soluri Meserve has developed into one of the most respected Environmental and Public Interest law firms in Northern California. The practice has focused on land use, environmental and water related law since 1999. Osha has experience preparing and commenting on environmental review and a variety of permitting documents and litigating the adequacy of those documents at both the trial and appellate level. she represents public entities, nonprofit entities, neighborhood groups and project applicants. Her experience extends in advancing clients' interests through public relations efforts and political processes. Focus areas: Osha has special interest in and experience working on legal issues related to water resources, land use, air quality and greenhouse gas, agricultural and forest resources, sold waste and energy use. Topic: Ishi's First World About the Speaker: David Stewart, our well known historian, anthropologist, author and a board member of Sacramento River Delta Historical Society shared with us Ishi's First World. Ishi may be one of the most famous indigenous Yahi in Northern California. Yahi is one of the four language group under Yana. The story was Ishi was living in the Mill Creek area where there was plenty of resources for their survival. Ishi eventually worked with the Anthropology Department of UC Museum San Francisco which contributed a great deal of research materials to the humanity. Ishi died in 1916 of Tuberculosis, a common lethal disease amongst the indigenous people who have very little immunity against which. Feb 5 2024

Prior to the interviews seniors must submit an application and write an essay describing his/her scholastic achievement, financial need, character, personal desire to better themselves, and any other information they feel makes them a worthy candidate to receive a WG Rotary scholarship. Over the years Walnut Grove Rotary has awarded a great many scholarships to public or private colleges/universities and community colleges, totaling many thousands of dollars to many students who might not otherwise have the means.

Bryan Bentley has spent the past 19 years in the financial services industry as an analyst, asset manager, and trusted advisor. He brings a practical, real-world, and holistic approach to his practice and engages with clients on a personal level. Known for his business acumen and experience in retirement income and financial advisory, Bryan works with clients and families across the country to help, protect, preserve, and grow their assets. Bryan was born and raised in South Florida, and attended the University of Florida, where he played varsity baseball and earned a degree in Finance and Business Administration. He is an avid sports fan and now competes in tennis, as well as endurance sports, including triathlons and marathons. Bryan lives in Granite Bay, California with his wife Megan and their three boys, Blake, Bryse, and Chase. He is also active in the community as a little league and travel baseball coach.

Each year the district requires a theme. Committee members serve as judges and timers for the Districts Club's contest that is held in each year in March. Our winner then goes on to compete at the area and district levels. Final competition is at the Annual District Conference, usually in May. Joe is a member of Rotary Club of Fair Oaks and our District 5180 Rotary Foundation Chair. If you recall, in November 2022, Joe participated in the Ride to End Polio bike ride on November 19, 2022 in Tucson Arizona. Over 7,000 fellow cyclists were riding for various charities.
